Modi Becomes First Indian PM to Visit Poland in 45 Years
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome at the Federal Chancellery in Warsaw, marking a significant moment as this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years. Following the welcome, PM Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Accompanying him were External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, highlighted the importance of this visit on social media, stating, “A new landmark in the India-Poland partnership! PM @narendramodi was warmly welcomed by PM @donaldtusk of Poland at the Federal Chancellery. This visit will inject new energy into the India-Poland relationship.”
In addition, Jaishankar held discussions with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, where they addressed various topics including the Ukraine conflict, the Indo-Pacific situation, and opportunities for bilateral collaboration. Jaishankar expressed optimism that PM Modi’s visit would provide a fresh impetus to strengthen ties between India and Poland.
